Introduction

Live Action Role Play

Who are we?
We are an independant Live Action Roleplay (a bit like interactive improvisational theatre) organization that revolves around the gothic-horror genre set in White Wolf's World of Darkness.

We have several hundred members based from the far north of Scotland to the South Coast of England; we cover nearly all the World of Darkness venues, and use White Wolf's 'Minds Eye Theatre' Rules.

What is LARP?
LARP stands for Live Action Role Playing. It's a game where, rather than saying what you want your character to do, you act out their actions. It combines elements of theatre sports, tabletop gaming and strategy games, to name but a few sources, into an entertaining and compelling pastime.

You take on the role of a character within a plot, with it's own goals and personality. You write a character sheet, which is a guideline to how your character behaves as well as what attributes and abilities they have to help them achieve their goals.

Games occur normally once a month. Players gather at a venue, get dressed up as their characters, and proceed to act out their characters meeting. A Storyteller, with several assistants, describes elements of the setting, gives background to what's occurring and plays various 'non-player' characters your character might interact with.

How much does it cost to join?
Currently it costs £1.50 per month of membership. This membership starts on April and lasts 12 months. If you join after April you only pay for the remaining year up to the next April renewal date.

What are prestige points?
As a reward for performing services to the society - holding officer positions, helping at events etc... - members are awarded what are known as prestige points. The more points a member has, the higher their membership class is. When a member creates a new primary character they can add on extra experience points based on their membership class.
